The Bucket Trade is your one stop for craft beer, growlers and provisions. We have 16 taps featuring both international and national rotating taps by style and the best Virginia beers and hard cider. We have beer on draft by the pint or pitcher and growlers, bottles and cans to go.
What does that name mean?? Before Prohibition and before bottles and cans became widespread, if you wanted beer outside of a bar it was put into a bucket. The buckets of beer were then taken to the thirsty by "bucket boys", usually carrying several on a pole. This process was called the "bucket trade". This eventually led to the "growler" which we know and love today!

Happy New Year!! We have a few very important announcements to make as we begin 2014.
1. Starting Monday, January 6th we will begin delivery to a limited area. Yes, that's right...BEER delivery as well as sandwiches and such from our delicious menu! Delivery service will run from 5pm-9pm Monday-Saturday. More details to follow.
2. Starting Monday, January 6th we will begin opening at the much requested time of 4:30 for HAPPY HOUR which runs from 4:30-6:30 Monday-Saturday. We will be adding new items to our menu specifically for HAPPY HOUR with specials to be announced soon.
3. Starting tomorrow we want to become THE BOTTLE SHOP for the Chester area. We're already up to 100 different bottles but our modest goal is 1000! We will be adding more and more bottles each week to try to attain that goal. So next time you're looking for craft beer think of us first!
